About the area: - Greenacres is very peaceful end of the village away from the main road and close to the waterside and is only a short bike ride / walk from either Itchenor Sailing Club or Chichester Yacht Club (both on the Salterns way which go on to Dell Quay and Chichester or West Wittering and East Head or, heading towards Chichester, there is the historic Centurions way.
- CYC is great social point for going for drinks, lunch, kids tea and Sunday carvery, running lots of organised events (quiz nights, wine tasting, dinghy week, barn dance, burns night etc..) if you are new to the area.
- Whilst Birdham doesn't have a pub, there are both sailing clubs, The Boathouse Café at the marina, The Lamb in West Witterings and Crown and Anchor at Dell Quay.
- Greenacres has it's own footpath approximately 200 meters from the doorstep leading down to the water. The footpath is then a short cut across a field to Birdham Pool via Westlands slipway where you can keep a boat and where people have used the slipway to launch a paddle board and kayak to get to CYC / Dell Quay.
- There is Birdham Stores which is very handy for a mini shop, otherwise butcher / baker / post office / greengrocer / banks etc in East Wittering along with a doctors surgery.
- Birdham has a village hall that can be hired (for kids parties etc..) next to it is a recently improved play park.
- Every Thursday pm/early evening a very good mobile fish and chip van comes to the village hall
- The Church is a very popular one with a good strong congregation (if you are a church go-er)
- The Cricket club has a pop-up pub / kids cricket coaching every Friday from 6pm in the Summer (can sign your kids up to cricket coaching for a small fee or just go for a drink at the bar and meet other people)
- There is a very good bus service (52/53) that goes from Chichester to Birdham to East and West Wittering and back again every 15 mins most of the day. The bus stops are right outside Birdham Stores or at the end of Church Lane.
- 5 Min drive to the Harbour Way club - gym / indoor pool / outdoor pool in the summer months / tennis courts / squash / spinning and loads of fitness classes. Great for kids swimming and tennis lessons too and another social hive for meeting people - they always have great things going on for the kids (xmas party / easter party / summer party)
- So nice and close to the beach which is lovely all year round. If you have a Birdham postcode you can get a discount for the annual car park pass at West Wittering.
